This is really expensive and sometimes frustrating for parents especially those in a tight budget. Don’t lose hope because they are ways that can be done for parents to save money at the same time keeping their kids well-dressed.
Slightly used baby clothes aren’t hard to find, you just have to know where to look. The following are great places to look for used baby clothes at very affordable prices:
Keep an eye on Yard sales. Some of the parents instead of throwing away baby clothes, they put it on a yard sale. Just like you, these parents’ babies outgrew their clothes really fast and one great way to get red of it are through selling them. You can check newspaper ads for yard sales. Ads with baby clothes usually mention baby clothes because they are really hot items. Weekends are usually the best time for yard selling so be sure to be free on weekends.
Look for thrift shops that carry all types of clothes. These are usually selling items for charity which makes it a good shop to support. Thrift shops usually have slightly used baby clothes donated by parents.
Ask relatives who have old baby clothes. Sometimes you just don’t need elsewhere but to your family. Ask if they would need their old baby clothes and if not, ask for it. Hand-me-downs aren’t bad after all. One good thing about this is that you know where the clothes come from.
Look for consignment shops. People like to get rid of things to exchange it with something new. Build good relationship with the employees of your favorite shops. You can get from them items at a great price. If they like you, usually you’ll be the first to know if there are promos in the store. Some shops even have a policy on trading clothes back when you need a new size so look for it.
Look for websites dedicated for recycling items such as Freecycle.org. Websites like this includes baby clothes. Usually, they don’t require you to pay for the clothes. Just go to their pick up location and all you have to do is pay for gas. They provide new listings everyday of people offering all types of items and baby clothes are usually on the list.
Just remember, when you get used clothing, wash the clothing thoroughly to make sure the clothing is clean. Baby skin is very sensitive so be meticulous in doing this. If it has stains, treat the stain and wash the clothing in gentle soap that is specially made for babies. Even put the clothing through two cycles to make sure the clothing is safe and germ-free. Aside from the fact that it was used before, the clothing might sit in a store for a long time and collect dust.
